DERRYBAWN LOOP WALK

WALKING ROUTE

Our hike begins at the Laragh car park, we will take in forest views as we move towards Glendalough on easy trails with an optional visit to St. Saviours Church. We will walk through the ancient Monastic site of Glendalough founded by St. Kevin in the 6th century and view the round tower up close before following the Green Road and making our way towards the upper lake where we will take in the views of the glaciated valley. The ascent begins here as we hike past Poulanass waterfall before looping back towards Derrybawn.

On good trails we will continue uphill enjoying the views of the Glendalough valley through spectacular Scot’s Pine. Along this upper path you will be able to look down and see majestic views of the upper lake, the monastic site and round tower before starting your descent through woodland towards the green road.

Keep an eye out for deer, wild goats and ravens as you continue down the path to re-join the green road as we head back to our starting point at Laragh.
