TROOPERSTOWN HILL LOOP WALK

WALKING ROUTE

Our hike begins at Trooperstown car park where we will follow the Avonmore way across the river and into woodland with good forest trails. This will lead us to the access point for Trooperstown Hill. The path narrows to a rough mountain trail as we start to ascend through heath towards the summit of Trooperstown. Along the way we will see some of the most spectacular views looking down into the Glendalough Valley.

As we reach the summit, the climb eases and becomes less steep, the walking is enjoyable on a well-established mountain path. The summit is marked with a large stone cairn and stunning views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. We will then descend to the col before a short ascent to the summit of Round hill which is also marked with a stone cairn. Our route from here will loop back taking a lower path on Trooperstown that will lead us to a network of forest trails bringing us back to our starting point.
